Dish Network Embodies Innovation

Dish Network is one of those rare companies that embodies the spirit of true American innovation. It’s attracted the loyal allegiance of over 11 million subscribers, and won accolades and respect from the rest of the television industry. It’s done this through a two pronged approach of providing entertainment packages designed to appeal to a variety of people and supplying it’s subscribers with the best television technology currently available.

The technology that Dish Network utilizes has been truly impressive from the beginning. All Dish Network programming is delivered in one hundred percent digital format. This means that it’s free of all but the worst interference for a crystal clear picture and great sound quality. Digital television also makes it easy for Dish Network to provide extra features along with the programming. For example, the Dish Interactive Electronic Program Guide displays all of the shows available to you in the form of a table just like you’d find in your local newspaper. Each cell in the table is occupied by a show and has information to help you decide whether or not you’d like to watch it. You can scroll up or down through the channels, or left or right to see different time slots. Some receiver models let you see what’s scheduled to be on up to nine days in advance. Dish Interactive also brings you information about the weather along with online games that no analog signal can provide.

More advanced technology is also available. Dish Network can provide receivers that can sent two separate television signals to two TV’s. This way one person can sit in the living room and watch one program, while someone else can sit in a bedroom and watch a completely different program without the added complication of having more than one receivDish Networker. This is accomplished by the remote that goes with the second TV operating on a UHF frequency which can not only penetrate walls, but is also very different from the IR frequency used by the one in the living room, so that the receiver doesn’t confuse the two.

Digital Video Recording is also built into some Dish Network Receivers. Digital Video Recording lets you record the programs that you want to watch regardless of whether or not your home, so you can watch them when you want to. A Digital Video Recorder is far superior to a VCR because it doesn’t use tapes and you can tell it what you want to record quickly and easily using the Dish Network’s Electronic Program Guide. Internet Innovations

With its origin back in the 1960s (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), the internet has been described as one of the major technological breakthroughs of the 20th century. The global inter-connectivity of computer networks from government, academic, business, public and privates sectors though the World Wide Web (www), has made the internet the innovation that has changed the lives of countless individuals and groups. This breakthrough has heralded in a new communication and information technology age, that has seen the frequency and speed of communication changed to what we only dreamt about or saw in science fiction movies two decades ago, thus bringing the technology of the future into the present.

The internet has redesigned traditional communication along with films, movies, television, medicine, education and commerce, resulting in significant reductions in business, entertainment and communication costs. Being able to trade stocks from anywhere in the world, stream movies and music live, and interact with strangers on social networks has ushered in a new breed of man who can be as bold as any introvert behind closed doors. Currently the numbers on internet or ‘stay at home’ jobs have skyrocketed to the point where it is asked, how much money can be made from the internet? How much information is too much information? The only drawback to information at your finger tips is that, there will always be individuals that wreak havoc on networks and steal identifies through obfuscations that most of us have fallen victim to. This however, has also created new jobs for computer and internet security providers. With the estimated world population of 6.9 billion where only 20 countries account for over 75% of the internet usage, in the near future, as internet usage urges, there will be increased need and capacity to store, process and retrieve information. Holograms may be the next move in telecommunications as currently On-Stage TelePresence Holographic Video Conferencing exists. Therefore, with limited leaps in imagination, there will be spinoffs from this technology into entertainment, academia and communication, thus bring Star Wars and GI Joe communication into the present. Is Cloud Computing a Green Innovation in the IT World?

For years, some providers have been researching, discovering, debating, and discerning which people, companies, products, and ideas are green and can be used in the mainstream while at the same time helping companies reach their IT goals.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing refers to the furnishing of computational resources on demand via a computer network. It has become quite popular with almost every major technology vendor announcing products, or at least a strategy for the cloud.

How is Cloud Computing Green?

This hosting option is designed to provide convenient, on-demand network access that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. In other words, with cloud computing shared resources such as web hosting are used more efficiently and are available on demand. As a result, many large corporations will not need to construct data centers that could end up sitting idle much of the time. Additionally, with cloud computing, users benefit by using in-browser applications that provide the benefit of requiring fewer hardware updates to keep up with CPU and storage demands.

Costs

There are many providers and the technology sector may be suffering from fatigue after a few years of hype. But because of its immaturity, some customers are not yet willing to dive into cloud computing. There are, however, many leading technology companies that are producing technologies that can make cloud computing reliable, stable and manageable for customers. The question is, can it be offered to small companies?

Currently, the lowest cost option is Amazon. In addition to being the lowest cost provider, Amazon has a great deal of experience, so combined with low cost + experience, Amazon is a formidable solution for many corporations. The online retail giant has the strongest web-based infrastructure upon which to build its cloud-based services, and its servers have been proven, through the deflection of multiple hacker attacks, as the most resilient and “unhackable” family of web sites on the web.
